As young kids, the makers of Ball Eagle summers were spent playing golf in the Lafayette, Louisiana, City Park Golf Course; the same place that local PGA Champions Jay and Lionel Hebert would play at, along with a host of other colorful characters. The Pro Shop was brimming with merchandise, and this was the first time we saw the old rubber pick-up tool. This particular tool fit over the end of the putter grip and covered the entire ball. The problem with this kind of device was its size. It hindered your stroke and often got stuck in your golf bag. We decided to design a tool that would help to tackle the problems associated with present day retrievers.
